Our technological age opens up unparalleled possibilities in terms of knowledge, health, travel, communication, and equality of access, but at the same time poses serious challenges in terms of bioethics, justice, environmental consequences, religion, human interaction, and even our understanding of human nature and purpose. How can we manage our technology instead of our technology dominating us?The Agora Institute's lecture series on Institutions of the Common Good continues this Spring on January 30th, 8:00 pm in the Warner Library Atrium on the St. David's campus with a lecture by Eric Cohen, Executive Director of the Tikvah Fund, on Science, Technology, and the Common Good.
Editor at large of the New Atlantis, the journal of note on the relationship of technology and society, Mr. Cohen is also author of In the Shadow of Progress: Being Human in the Age of Technology (2008) and co-editor of The Future is Now: America Confronts the New Genetics (2002). He was previously managing editor of the Public Interest and served as a senior consultant to the President’s Council on Bioethics.
